“If we’re going to have some of the best engineers, scientists and technologists in our workforce, we have to help develop them. Our partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America enables us to extend our reach, particularly to students in communities that are underserved, and to create incredible opportunities to get them excited about STEM education and the paths it offers them.”

The demand for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) talent is growing exponentially, while access to high-quality STEM education lags. We believe that making STEM more accessible and equitable, especially for populations who have historically been underserved, will lead us to a STEM workforce that more fully reflects our society and leverages its diversity to solve the world’s most complex problems.

Together, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Boys & Girls Clubs of America are enhancing and expanding STEM education programming and exposure across the Boys & Girls Clubs movement. Our national partnership advances equity by connecting more youth with high-quality learning experiences that can inspire and propel them into thriving STEM careers.

High-quality STEM learning experiences for youth

Our sponsorship of Boys & Girls Clubs’ DIY STEM platform includes original content, competitions, and nationwide virtual events that engage youth through hands-on activities and exposure to Thermo Fisher professionals.

Targeted professional development for staff

We support Boys & Girls Clubs' STEM education training pathways, a series of modules and targeted resources to help staff build essential STEM knowledge, habits and activity facilitation skills aligned with Boys & Girls Clubs youth development priorities.

Integrated support for local Clubs

More than 30 Clubs nationwide access grants, STEM kits and our passionate colleague volunteers, including our Company Leadership Team members, who partner with them to create meaningful STEM-based engagement opportunities through virtual and in-person events.

Seeing our colleagues’ dedication to engaging and inspiring these students—including colleagues who aren’t in STEM roles themselves—validates our commitment to nurturing a culture of collaboration, belonging and purpose. Our colleagues understand that when they put our Mission into action by enhancing STEM education access and equity for youth who are underserved, they’re not only bolstering Thermo Fisher’s talent pipeline—they’re driving economic and social justice in the communities where we live and work.
