João's Story

When João Victor was born prematurely with a complex congenital heart condition, his family knew the road ahead would be challenging. In his first weeks of life, he underwent multiple procedures, including pacemaker implantation, beginning a lifelong journey of specialized cardiac care.

 

Throughout his childhood, hospital visits became part of everyday life. Despite these challenges, Patrícia worked tirelessly to ensure João experienced the joys of growing up, attending school, making friends and enjoying the activities he loved whenever possible.

 

Now 13 years old, João continues to dream about simple childhood milestones like riding his bike, playing soccer and spending more time outdoors. As his heart condition progresses, a transplant offers hope for a brighter future.

 

For Patrícia, waiting for a transplant is filled with uncertainty, but also optimism. Advances in transplant medicine continue to create new possibilities for patients like João, while the generosity of organ donors makes those possibilities real.
