Proteomics in Action: Every heart tells a different story


HEART disease remains the world’s leading cause of death, yet the biology behind it can vary significantly from one person to another, particularly and between women and men. Proteomics is giving researchers a more complete view of that biology by revealing the dynamic changes in proteins that can help explain how disease develops, why treatments may work differently, and what may be happening inside the body over time.

 

In this edition of Proteomics in Action, Dr. Jennifer Van Eyk of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center shares how advances in proteomics are transforming cardiovascular research. Scientists can now analyze thousands of proteins with unprecedented speed and depth, uncovering biological differences that were once difficult to see and creating new opportunities to better understand conditions such as women’s heart disease.
