PROTEOMICS is reaching an inflection point. Advances across the scientific workflow are enabling researchers to analyze thousands of proteins across increasingly large numbers of samples with speed and reliability that would have been difficult to imagine just a few years ago. The result is the ability to investigate disease at scale and uncover new biological insights.
In this edition of Proteomics in Action, Dr. Beatrix Ueberheide, director of the Proteomics Laboratory at NYU School of Medicine, explains why she believes we are in a “proteomics revolution.” She shares how recent advances are now helping to pivot research from small studies toward population-scale proteomics.
For Dr. Ueberheide, that evolution is also bringing proteomics closer to the promise of precision medicine, where deeper insight into an individual patient’s biology could ultimately help inform diagnosis, treatment and care.
