Thanksgiving

November 2023

We are about to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States – a time to reflect on all that we are grateful for. When I think about my personal life, I’m grateful for my family and friends, whose support sustains me through all of life’s ups and downs. I’m really looking forward to gathering with them again this year.

I also think about our Thermo Fisher family, and the impact we have as we work together to fulfill our Mission. Whether we are enabling breakthrough medicines and diagnostics, empowering our customers to understand climate change, or ensuring the quality of air and water that we all need to live – our work helps to improve lives worldwide and that inspires me every day.

Of course, none of this is possible without our 125,000 colleagues, whose passion for our Mission propels us forward. I’m deeply grateful for our incredible team.

 

As I reflect on all of these gifts, I also think about the problems in our world – from wars and crises that are causing so much suffering at this time, to global warming and social inequities.

 

As individuals, we may feel discouraged or powerless in the face of these challenges, but we can – and do – make a difference every day.

 

I’m very proud of the way our company is using our position as the world leader in serving science to advance health equity, create more opportunities for all, reduce our impact on the environment, and ensure an inclusive culture within our company where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are embraced and everyone is inspired to bring their best every day.

 

Our colleagues play an important role in this when they get involved in our STEM education programs, or support our Community Action Councils, and especially as they help us create an inclusive culture by creating a sense of belonging within our company.

Looking ahead, we have a lot to be excited about. Science continues to advance at a rapid pace, and Thermo Fisher has amazing opportunities to enable breakthroughs that will have a profound impact for humanity. In many different ways, we will help to solve problems and create a brighter future for all.

 

For those who are celebrating Thanksgiving, I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday. And, for all of our colleagues around the world, thank you for what you do every day for our customers, our company and society overall.
