The power of our Mission-driven culture

This week I was honored to accept a Distinguished Leadership Award on behalf of Thermo Fisher from the Committee for Economic Development, the public policy center of The Conference Board.

The awards recognize business leaders and their companies for helping our nation and our communities navigate the many challenges before us, including defeating the pandemic, ensuring an economic recovery that provides equal opportunity for all Americans, building a more civil and just society and upholding a rules-based international order. CEOs from five other outstanding companies were recognized, including our customer, Pfizer.

This award belongs to our more than 125,000 colleagues around the world, who bring their best every day to fulfill our Mission to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. Their passion for our Mission fuels our success and enables us to make a profound impact for society.

 

When the pandemic hit, our colleagues understood our obligation and our unique ability to help customers and governments around the world manage through the crisis.

 

We mobilized with speed at scale and navigated unprecedented challenges to support the response in many ways – from research of the virus to delivering the gold-standard in diagnostic testing to producing vaccines and treatments. It will stand as a defining moment for us, and we’ve emerged even stronger.

But the pandemic response is just one example of our Mission in action. Every day we come to work with a commitment to helping our customers discover new treatments for disease, keep our water and air clean, ensure our food is safe and protect the public from threats.

 

Thermo Fisher was built to serve society and that sense of purpose will continue to fuel innovation and scientific advancement to make the world a better place.

 

While it’s gratifying to receive an award for what we do, the greatest honor is seeing the difference that we make.
