February 14 is most commonly known for Valentine’s day – but did you know that February 14 also marks National Organ Donor Day? What better way to show your love than by donating an organ and saving a life.

National Donor Day is dedicated to spreading awareness and education about organ, eye and tissue donation while also recognizing those who have given and received the gift of life, those who are currently waiting and those who have passed.

Thermo Fisher develops, manufactures and distributes comprehensive molecular tissue typing and antibody detection products. These assays are utilized by doctors at transplant centers around the world to provide important pre-transplant information about the compatibility of donors and recipients as well as post-transplant monitoring for the presence of antibodies that can ultimately lead to organ rejection.

In October 2022, Thermo Fisher also launched a storytelling initiative, Counting on You, to encourage organ donation by demonstrating the impact it can have on a life. In doing so, it also demonstrates Thermo Fisher’s commitment to amplifying the patient voice and reinforces our role in delivering better patient outcomes.

Since its launch, the campaign has registered new donors—both living and deceased.
