Mission in a Minute

World Alzheimer's Month

Behind every Alzheimer’s diagnosis is a person – a parent, grandparent, friend or neighbor – whose world is reshaped by the disease. Families and caregivers feel the impact too, navigating the uncertainty and the daily challenges it brings. Scientists around the world are relentlessly pursuing answers, studying disease progression and exploring new therapeutic options.

At Thermo Fisher, we empower researchers to dig deeper into diseases including Alzheimer’s. Across R&D and clinical research, our cutting-edge tools and innovative technologies are accelerating discoveries and advancing novel diagnostics and therapies to treat this disease.

For example, our cryo-electron microscopes enable near-atomic resolution visualization of tau proteins, structures commonly found in Alzheimer's patients. And our Alzheimer's disease antibody targets help scientists study related proteins through a variety of techniques, deepening understanding of the disease and supporting therapeutic development.

Similarly, our Thermo Scientific Orbitrap Astral Mass Spectrometer is transforming Alzheimer’s research through advanced proteomics. By mapping proteins in the brain, it helps scientists uncover novel disease biomarkers and gain a clearer picture of the molecular activity behind Alzheimer’s. Our new Olink high-performance, targeted proteomics immunoassay panel also empowers researchers to measure and track proteins of interest to better understand disease progression and therapeutic response.

Through our clinical research business, we support some of the most promising clinical trials aimed at treating neurodegenerative diseases, helping to bring potential therapies closer to patients.

This World Alzheimer's Month, we honor both the scientists unlocking the mysteries of the disease, the people living with it and the families, friends and caregivers who support them. Their courage, resilience and commitment inspire every discovery, every innovation and every step toward a healthier future.
