Helping Your Laboratory Deliver the Bigger Picture in Allergen Sensitization
The ImmunoCAP ISAC test is the most widely used in vitro diagnostic test that allows for simultaneous measurement of specific IgE antibodies to a broad spectrum of allergen components.
ImmunoCAP ISAC is an immunoassay platform that allows for simultaneous measurement of specific IgE antibodies to 112 different allergen components using only 30 μl of serum or plasma. Capillary blood sampling can be used, thus enabling a less invasive procedure for testing young children.
Purified natural or recombinant molecular allergen components are immobilized on a solid support (biochip). ImmunoCAP ISAC is a semi-quantitative test and results are reported in ISAC Standardized Units (ISU).
This innovative test provides clinicians with a large amount of allergen specific IgE antibody information in one single step. ImmunoCAP ISAC test is the result of a combination of innovative biochip technology and cutting-edge research in molecular allergology.
At times, your clinicians will face diagnostic challenges, such as symptomatic patients whose symptoms and case history are inconsistent, who are multisensitized or who have an unsatisfactory response to initial treatment. In these cases, ImmunoCAP ISAC tests can help your laboratory add clinical value by revealing:
The sensitization profile of multisensitized patients (ie, cross-reactivity vs co-sensitization)
Results that can help a clinician identify potential risks for reaction and type of reaction, especially food-related reactions
Unexpected sensitizations
The IgE antibody profile in patients with unsatisfactory response to treatment
Non-atopics
Based on modern biochip technology, ImmunoCAP ISAC tests are an immunoassay platform in which allergen components are immobilized in a microarray. This test is a two-step assay that can be completed in less than 4 hours:
IgE antibodies from the patient sample bind to the immobilized allergen components
Allergen-bound IgE antibodies are detected by a fluorescence labeled anti-IgE antibody
ImmunoCAP ISAC tests are semiquantitative, with results reported in ISAC Standardized Units for specific IgE (ISU-E). These data give indications of specific IgE antibody levels within a measuring range of 0.3 to 100 ISU-E.
